Merna Priestley, a 90-year-old nursing home resident, began knitting and selling hats several years ago. However, this year she began selling them with the help of her facility. She would previously set up a table and “sell her work to visitors and residents,” however, this year was a little different.
With the help of her home’s activity director, Priestley’s hats were shared on social media. She received so much interest that she soon sold out, and purchased an iPad “to FaceTime her family for Thanksgiving.” The activities director explained that he “enjoys finding creative ways to help residents from window visits to helping people like Priestley put out her product.” Priestley is giving her fingers a rest before starting to knit again.
