A Nursing Home Christmas, By Gwen Smith
As I hurried down the hall one day
I heard a little white haired lady say
I may be old, I may be frail
But, I have plenty of stories I could tell.
If only you’d take the time to ask, then listen,
I could tell you things to make you laugh and your eyes glisten.
When my vision is failing me and my memory is gone
And, my one and only thought is to be able to go home
Please take the time out of your busy schedule to care
Just a word or a touch, to let me know someone is there
For I am still Human and I have feelings too
Just think, the person in this chair may someday be you.
So, remember me during this time of love, good tidings and cheer.
But, don’t forget me during the many other days of the year.
And, have a Merry Christmas!
