There are new criminal charges for former employees of a nursing home accused of abusing and neglecting two elderly residents. The indictments for these former employees were presented in 2014, but the prosecuting attorney amended the charges just recently following new information.
There were several staff who witnessed or knew about the alleged abuse yet failed to report or obstruct the acts, according to state inspection records. Some witnesses reported the incidents were permitted to continue due to direct intimidation or a gut feeling the acts would go unpunished regardless. For more, read the story.
