A University of Alabama senior recently started a personal project: writing cards to nursing home residents. After recalling a conversation with another resident when his grandfather was in a nursing home, Demarcus Rudolph felt the urge to pick up his pen, and send cards to people often forgotten about.
Rudolph has written over 300 cards and does not plan to stop anytime soon. He states that he saw it become even more important when nursing home visits stopped amidst the Covid-19 pandemic. He feels that the least he can do is share a smile and an encouraging note to someone in need of a friendly message.
