Assisted Living Facility Resident Found Unresponsive in Urine Soaked Room

Health officials in one state indicate that an elderly assisted living facility resident is recovering after being found in a room full of urine and mold. The State Health Department found the facility responsible for neglect after the disabled man was found unconscious in the unsanitary conditions.  Emergency transport staff noted that the room contained old food and the carpet was stained with urine.

The man was treated at the hospital for critically low blood sugar and a urinary tract infection. Officials determined that staff failed to monitor the patient, provide housekeeping, or report his condition to a nurse. The resident was sent back to the facility after treatment but is living in a new room. The assisted living facility was cited for neglect. For more, read the story.
