A recent New York Times article explained that Robopets, or automated animals, are growing in popularity in long-term care homes. Covid-19 restrictions have halted visitors for most nursing home residents, including four legged friends. In the meantime, robopets are becoming more common amongst the isolation and loneliness caused by Covid-19 restrictions.
Although social disconnection has long-affected residents in nursing homes, these symptoms have only been exacerbated by the pandemic. Robotpets might help bring comfort and easy loneliness to residents in a time where visitors are few and far between.
