Caregiver Arrested After Bilking $25,000 from Elderly Dementia Patient

Police have arrested a 30-year-old caregiver on charges that she bilked nearly $25,000 from an elderly dementia patient.  According to authorities, the woman was the personal caregiver for the 91-year-old man. During the time she served as his caregiver, she wrote herself fraudulent checks and used the man’s debit card for her personal purchases.

The caregiver learned of the police investigation and fled the state. However, she was arrested this week at her home and charged with elder exploitation after police obtained surveillance video of  the caregiver conducting several of the fraudulent transactions.  The woman is currently being held on $2,500 bond.
