Police have arrested a suspect for stealing jewelry from an elderly woman who she was hired to care for. The elderly woman’s daughter discovered the theft and reported it to police.
The deputy learned that the 86-year-old victim was the resident of an assisted living facility. Detectives with the Sheriff’s Criminal Investigations Division became involved and learned that nine jewelry items had gone missing, which were worth thousands of dollars.
The victim and her daughter provided investigators a list of individuals who had access to the residence. Next, they discovered that a caregiver at the facility had stolen the items and sold them at a local pawn shop. The caregiver was arrested and charged with theft and trafficking stolen items.
