Caregiver Convicted Of Elder Abuse

An adult day care employee has been convicted of elder abuse. The family hired her to be a caregiver for their loved one after his wife of 40 years died of cancer. The 40-year-old employee developed a relationship with the 80-year-old patient, married him and began to spend his life savings.

Hundreds of thousands of dollars were spent in a matter of months on cosmetic surgery, private schooling for children, and braces. The home was also sold for half its value. The caregiver pleaded guilty to the charge of elder abuse. The patient now lives in a nursing home, because his home was sold. For more, read the story.
