Caregiver Pleads Not Guilty in Bed Sore Case

A caregiver accused of not properly caring for a woman with multiple sclerosis who later died has pleaded not guilty to charges of endangering a vulnerable adult. Authorities say that the 51-year-old caregiver failed to get medical attention for a 76-year-old woman in her care who developed bed sores that ultimately became so severe they exposed bone. The woman died last July.

Authorities say the caregiver’s license was revoked in 2001 but she was being paid to care for the woman from August 2009 to May 2010. If convicted, she could serve up to 10 years in prison.For more, read the story.
