Two caregivers have pleaded guilty to third-degree murder after a patient in their care died from sepsis. The patient lost half his body weight from malnourishment. He developed severe bedsores which led to the sepsis that caused his death. The bedsores developed and grew over 6 months time with hydrogen peroxide as the sole treatment used.
The patient began to decline in health prior to the bedsores developing when he began falling frequently and soon after became immobile. Due to his immobility, he developed severe bed sores. The caregivers were charged with and pleaded guilty to third-degree murder, neglect, reckless endangerment and conspiracy for his mistreatment and abuse. For more, read the story.
