Many of the patients have “given up everything- their apartments or mobile homes, their furniture, their burial insurance-to qualify.” To make matters worse, there is a shortage of assisted living facilities willing to serve the patients who no longer qualify for nursing home care, leaving so many patients with nowhere to go.
