Court Upholds Decision to Fine Home $10,000 For Leaving Suicidal Resident Unattended

A nursing home facility is responsible for leaving a man on suicide watch unattended. Within 20 minutes of being let outside to smoke, the resident hung himself with his belt.  The man had already broken his leg in an earlier attempt.

The home was fined $10,000 for leaving the man unattended. A court upheld the decision despite a petition from the home to overrule the decision. For more, read the story.
