Dementia Leads To Higher Rate Of Abuse In Nursing Home Patients

Dementia patients suffer abuse at a higher rate than patients who do not suffer from dementia. Since dementia affects 50% of the population over 85, it is imperative to be cautious of the signs of abuse and neglect in elderly patients at nursing home facilities. These signs include agitation, withdrawal, cuts, bruises, and broken bones among others.

Family members and friends of loved ones should be aware and cautious of any abuse for patients of any age, however, it is even more important to watch for those who suffer dementia and are often unable to remember or reiterate abuse that occurs. For more, read the story.
