Elderly Woman Dies Outside Nursing Home From Prolonged Exposure to Excessive Heat

A woman who was found unresponsive outside her nursing home Tuesday evening likely died from the heat, the county coroner said. The 57-year-old woman was found on the grounds of the nursing home. It is believed that she got out of the facility and had been outside around an hour.

The coroner said that the final autopsy results are still pending, but he expects the results to confirm his suspicions. The temperature at the nursing home on the afternoon the woman was found outside was 100 degrees, with a heat index of 106. For more, read the story.
