Eloped Nursing Home Patient Found Injured, Dies Shortly After

A nursing home patient was found injured and later died after eloping from the nursing home facility in her wheelchair. The patient's wheelchair overturned allowing the woman to fall and become injured. The facility's fire alarm was pulled and the doors were unlocked at that time, allowing the patient to exit.

Nursing staff believes the patient pulled the alarm herself. However, nurses at the facility had the ability to lock the doors again once the alarm was pulled. They failed to do so or to retrieve her. The patient was found by a man driving down the road who saw her wheelchair laying in a ditch. For more, read the story
