A nursing home facility in one state was just named defendant in a lawsuit that alleges the facility’s negligence caused a patient’s untimely death. According to the lawsuit, this patient did not have pressure ulcers upon admission; however, the patient’s cause of death was septic shock from an infection that spread. The lawsuit continues to state that the facility was aware of the patient’s risk for skin breakdown, yet executed no plan to prevent the development of pressure ulcers.
In addition to the pressure ulcers, the lawsuit claims the patient also progressively lost weight under the facility’s care. The patient died March 12, 2018. For more, read the story.
