A nursing home that acknowledged legal responsibility for the untimely death of one elderly patient is now counter-suing the family of the deceased for his unpaid expenses. A jury has already awarded $1 million for the family of the victim from the lawsuit that was filed against the nursing home. A family member of the deceased says the counter-suit for unpaid expenses is a “slap in the face.”
“They did wrong, and they know they did wrong and it’s like they’re benefiting from his death. It’s like somebody murdering somebody and then asking for money,” the family member continued. Mediation for this pending suit is scheduled for May 2019. For more, read the story.
