Family Sues Nursing Home After Resident Assault Led to Patient's Death

The family of an elderly woman who died following a violent attack by another resident at a nursing home has sued the facility for neglect. The woman died in 2009 shortly after another resident threw her to the floor while she was walking down the hall.

The elderly dementia patient suffered a bruised eye and broken forearm. She died three weeks later at the hospital. According to her family, the resident who committed the assault had a history of aggressive behavior. They also allege that the facility failed to provide proper supervision to prevent the assault.
