Fire in Nursing Home Promts Citizens to Act Quickly

The nearly 50 residents of  one nursing home are safe after being evacuated when their facility caught fire last week.

The fire started around 1:30 p.m. at the Nursing Home. Many of the residents were assisted out of the facility into the gym of a nearby school by citizens who witnessed the emergency and acted quickly. The resident were then transported to area facilities or went home with family members.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation. The Fire Chief reported that there was significant water, smoke and fire damage to the building. The Chief praised the actions of the citizens for assisting in the rescue. For more, read the story.
