Three former nursing home employees have been convicted of elder abuse after allowing a patient to suffer injuries. The employees claimed they were monitoring the patient throughout the night based on their documentation. However, video surveillance proved no one entered the room.
The patient suffered over 100 ant bites in the 11 hours she was unmonitored despite falsified records stating she was monitored. The nurse and nursing assistants were sentenced to 2 years in prison for their convictions and the nurse had to surrender her license as a result. For more, read the story.
