Four Nursing Homes Cited And Fined For Incidents

Four nursing homes in one state have received fines for medication errors, falls with broken bones and wandering from the facility. One of the facilities with a medication error and citation on the first survey visit had a repeat error where a patient did not receive three doses of an anti-depressant. The incidents were allowed by the same nurse in each situation.

Other incidents cited involved a patient falling out of a wheelchair and breaking a hip when the patient should have been watched closely while at the nurse's station and a patient who wandered outside a nursing home facility. The patient was allowed to get to the parking lot before being turned back. All facilities have paid fines and are under observation to improve the quality of care to prevent repeat incidents.
