A woman formerly employed at a group home admitted last week that she stole almost $9,000 from facility residents. The 37-year-old caretaker plead guilty to financial exploitation of a disabled person, a crime which could lead to seven years in prison.
The woman was the house manager at the private care facility. The facility provides assisted living to men with developmental disabilities. According to authorities, the woman accessed the residents’ ATM cards and withdrew money from their bank accounts on multiple occasions from 2008 to 2011. The woman stole from five residents, however, the bulk of her theft, $7,700, was from just one resident. For more, read the story.
