The Virginia Department of Social Services soon will force a Hampton unlicensed assisted living facility to close. The Ashwood Assisted Living facility has been inspected more than a dozen times since 2012.
In August 2012, the facility’s license was revoked because of poor inspections.That decision was appealed, but the appeal was denied.
According to an attorney working to close down the facility, the “conditions are just appalling and they need to be stopped immediately.” She also said, “these people need to be sent to a place where they’re properly fed, properly cared for.”
The most recent state inspection last month discovered mold in a shower shared by residents, areas of the facility that smelled like urine and multiple instances of patients not receiving medication they were prescribed or patients receiving medications without a prescription.
