A woman is being sent to federal prison for 25 months as well as a man who has been sentenced for 8 years. Both individuals were convicted for the same reason as they recently worked for the Department of Public Health and non-profit groups run with state-granted money. They pleaded guilty to federal charges including bribery, theft, and tax evasion.
Together they stole millions of dollars by providing kickbacks for services directed to family firms. Similar crimes are becoming more common in the healthcare industry despite efforts to stop them.
