Hospital Admits Feelings of “Deep Regret” for Patient Who Died from Pressure Ulcers, Implements Supplemental Training

One hospital has apologized and admitted feelings of “deep regret” after a former patient who developed pressure ulcers passed away. According to the coroner who examined the patient’s body, the death was triggered by the pressure ulcers. The hospital further explained in a statement that the patient had refused care.

“No one appeared to recognize the severity of the injury and the fact that tendons and bone were exposed,” the coroner reported about the decedent. The hospital stated it is implementing new staff training for patients who refuse care. For more, read the story.
