A family has been awarded $1 million in response to a patient’s death at a nursing home facility. The patient sustained severe and fatal pressure ulcers, while illness and injuries led to her death. Punitive damages were awarded in the amount of $560,000 and compensatory damages were awarded in the amount of $440,000.
Family members say the patient was neglected and did not receive proper care in a safe environment. They also alleged they were never notified of their loved one’s injuries. The nursing home is being held accountable for their actions, or lack thereof. For more, read the story.
