Attorneys general have filed several lawsuits against nursing home chains in two different states for failure to staff their facilities properly. A shortage of staffing has been deemed the culprit for clinical deficiencies leading to poor quality patient care. The issues in the lawsuits pointed primarily to negligent care, deceptive marketing and Medicare/Medicaid fraud.
One chain settled its lawsuit at $2 million. The other two chains are locked in a legal battle. Attorneys in other states plan to file additional lawsuits against other chains to send a message that patients deserve the utmost of care. For more, read the story.
