A report has been released regarding survey reports in one state where out of 507 complaints, only 43 were validated as violations of care. The report came from a legal aid group where surveys had been studied and analyzed over a period of time from 2012 to 2014. “It stretches belief to suggest that 92% of complaints filed by residents, their families, or the ombudsman were unfounded,” the report said.
The state department of health did not address accusations that standards of care were not held up against nursing home facilities receiving complaints. However, a new director of the state department did acknowledge that policies were currently under review to verify that the highest standards of care are being upheld. For more, read the story.
