Local Animal Shelter Offers Volunteerism, Community To Patients At Nursing Home

A local animal shelter has made a big impact on one of its nursing homes in the community. The shelter joined with the nursing home to create volunteer opportunities for nursing home patients to spend time with the animals caring for them and making blankets as needed. The patients have made over 100 blankets and spent countless hours with the animals providing community for the patients and the animals.

“They feel worthwhile, their lives mean something. They're still participating the community, they're still involved. Therefore, there is value there. And it's enjoyable! What could be better than loving on a puppy or kitten? It brings smiles and happiness and there is nothing better than that,” said the director of the animal shelter. For more, read the story
