Local Community Growth Of Aging Population Calls For Alternatives To Nursing Homes

The aging population is growing in one county, requiring focus on space issues in the near future.  Thirteen percent of the population is over the age of 65.  In nearly fifteen years, nursing home residents have increased from 4,488 residents to more than 5,270.

The local community is focusing on ways to house the elderly that will provide alternatives to nursing home facilities. A community advisory board is recommending assisted living or home care as alternatives. For more, read the story.
