Locals Share Holiday Spirit with Facility Residents

Oklahoma State University students paired up with Companion Hospice to share the holiday spirit with assisted living and long-term care facility residents. Because most care facilities do not allow visitors, the students have started sending holiday-themed cards to residents to share their love and well-wishes.

A senior at OSU initiated this project after being promoted in a class to volunteer with her school’s local community. She explained that “she was very close with her grandmother and that is what piqued her interest” in sharing holiday spirit with local seniors. The student held an event on campus so others could join and write cards “in a safe and cheerful manner.”
