While COVID-19 has changed traditional voting methods, nursing home and assisted living facilities are doing what they can so residents can vote safely. In previous years, residents were transported to their district to vote. However, with COVID-19 cases on the rise, residents and facilities worried about how they could all safely vote.
This year, most residents are “casting their votes through absentee ballots.” Most residents found the process to be “easy and worry-free.” One resident explained how there were “veterans in the facilities . . . that have fought for this right and so it’s very important that we just don’t forget about their rights.”
