A Ramsey County nursing home plans to “de-license 38 of its 164 nursing home beds at the county’s Care Center” in order to meet demands for single-bed rooms. While the facility only has four single rooms, it plans to transition to 30 single rooms starting in January.
The transition will “save the county $62,000 annually,” but will also “generate an additional $108,000” as facilities are paid more for single rooms.
This transition comes at a time when nursing home residents are targeted by the fast-spreading COVID-19 virus, and could be safer in single rooms. For more on this story, read here.
