Minorities Affected by Covid-19 in Assisted Living and Nursing Homes

A recent article argued that racial and ethnic minority groups are disproportionately affected by Covid-19. These findings are based on data from over 12,500 facilities across seven states. The data revealed how assisted living communities with larger minority populations had a higher percentage of Covid-19 cases.

The article explained how many nursing homes remain segregated, and homes with higher percentages of ethnic and racial minorities were ill-prepared for the pandemic, as they lacked federal oversight, and faced financial challenges as they attempted to assist their residents affected by coronavirus.
