More than 50 nursing homes in one state have been cited for violations against the Nursing Home Care Act. The nursing home facilities allowed violations such as medication errors, neglect, abuse, malnutrition, and bedsores. Each facility was find at least $1000 with some facilities being fined up to $50,000.
Patients in some circumstances were placed in situations of immediate jeopardy. Because of the severity of some of the violations some facilities may lose their ability to admit patients. For more, read the story.
