New nursing home regulations set forth by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services are putting more power into the hands of patients and their family members. New regulations soon to be enforced allow patients “to be much more engaged in the design of their care plan and the design of their discharge plans,” said the senior vice-president of the American Healthcare Association.
The patients and their families would also be able to avoid being discharged while disputing reasons for discharges, receive better security, and improvement in grievance procedures. Patients will also be ensured a quality staff and expanded protection from abuse under the new regulations. For more, read the story.
