Administrator Abandons Assisted Living Facility, Leaving Housekeeper In Charge

A 21-year-old housekeeper at a Missouri assisted living facility came to work one day to find his boss left his a note saying he was in charge of the residents. The note said, “You probably could have guessed by now but I am not coming back.  If you do walk out or leave without certified staff, corporate will report you to the State and you will be placed on an EDL list and possible jail time.”Now he says he is stranded with residents for whom he cannot provide care.

Three Nursing Home Employees Arrested For Death of Ignored Patient

Two licensed nurse practitioners as well as a certified nurse assistant were arrested Friday following the 2014 death of an 89-year-old patient whose calls for help were ignored by the nursing home staff. The charges include felony murder, neglect to a disabled adult, neglect to an elder person or resident of long-term care facility, abuse, exploitation of a disabled or elder person, and concealing the death of another. Nursing Home Pays $500,000 For Medicating Residents For Easier Management

A nursing home settled a lawsuit accusing it of medicating residents to make them easier to manage.  The facility said the $500,000 settlement is not an admission of liability.The lawsuit alleged that the nursing home prescribed a woman heavy doses of anti-psychotic and anti-anxiety drugs without cause, leading her condition to deteriorate. Nursing Home Fined $500,000 For “Substandard And Worthless” Services
