Nursing Home Individuals Treated For Carbon Monoxide Poisoning Symptoms

Five individuals at a nursing home including patients and staff were treating for possible carbon monoxide poisoning. A call was made to the fire department with suspicions of carbon monoxide poisoning with the smell of exhaust in the building. It is believed the smell was caused by a generator without proper ventilation. The individuals were treated and released.

Nursing Home Fined $782,250 For Deficiencies In Care

A nursing home has been fined one of the 10 largest fines nationally in the past 3 years. The fine amounting to $675,750 makes up part of the total $782,250 the facility was fined after deficiencies were found on two separate health inspections. The deficiency yielding the highest of the fines involved a patient who was allowed to develop “wounds that went down to the bone with exposed tendons”.In addition to the fines, the facility also lost its license.

A special program in one area allowed a nursing home patient to come home for Christmas. The program offered this patient the opportunity to spend Christmas at home with her family. Spending her first year at a nursing home, she would have been unable to come home without the generosity and help of the program. She was escorted in an ambulance and brought to her family's home to celebrate with them.

Nursing Home Patients Enjoy Visit And Gifts From Local Church

A local church brought gifts to nursing home residents as a continued tradition. The patients were thankful to know someone would be visiting them and cares for them consistently. The church also brought music through song to the patients. “It's very important to give back because God is so good to us, so every year, for 25 years, we've been coming to the nursing home, giving our socks, scarves, fruit,” said the pastor for the outreach church.

Nursing Home Worker Faces Trial For Sexual Abuse Charges

A nursing home worker accused of sexually abusing a resident will go to trial to face the charges against him. The worker has pleaded guilty to three felony charges. The charges include one count of criminal sexual act and two counts of endangering the welfare of an elderly or incompetent person. The worker was investigated by police and made admissions of sexual misconduct after being questioned about a specific incident with a resident.
