A hearing is slated for a nursing home regarding the death of eight nursing home patients following a hurricane. Nursing Home Fined For Patients' Death and Fractures

A nursing home has been fined more than $27,000 for multiple incidents that resulted in the death of a patient and the fractures of all four limbs for another patient. The patient who received four fractures was allowed to fall from a toilet without using a safety belt. The patient fractured one leg and fell fracturing both arms and the other leg from the fall. The patient who died received four other patients' medications in error.

Nursing Home Employee Steals Patients' Pain Killers

Nursing home patients did not receive their prescribed medications after an employee stole them. The employee confessed to stealing the narcotics from her cart rather than giving them to patients. Police found several narcotics in the employee's home for which she did not have a prescription. The patients were unable to receive various drugs as prescribed for several days due to her theft.

Six nursing home patients have died in a fire at a nursing home facility. The fire was started by a nursing home patient who started it with a lighter. A nursing home spokesperson said the patient was believed to have suffered from a mental illness. Two patients were burned in the fire, while the others died of smoke inhalation.

Nursing Home Patient Arrested For Sexual Assault

A 75-year-old nursing home resident was witnessed sexually assaulting a 101-year-old woman. Police arrested him for the assault.  The resident was charged with endangering the welfare of an incompetent or physically disabled person, a felony, and misdemeanor forcible touching. “I was so angry I wanted to go and beat him up for what he did to this poor, defenseless woman,” the staff member who reported witnessing it, wrote in a statement to the sheriff’s officers.
