Caregiver Facing Elderly Abuse Charges
A caregiver is facing elderly abuse charges for allowing an elderly patient to die under his care. The patient had infected wounds with maggots in the diapers he wore. The diaper was filled with fecal matter on top of the infected wounds. It is believed drugs were a factor for the caregiver in the abuse and neglect of the patient.
Nursing Home Patient Found Dead After Missing More Than 30 Hours
The body of a missing nursing home patient has been found. The patient went missing for more than 30 hours over a weekend. Police are currently investigating the disappearance and death of the patient. The state bureau is also investigating.
Nursing Home Abuse Investigation Receives Slow Response Time
State surveyors are showing slow response time in investigating complaints of abuse involving imminent risk of serious injury or death. The standard protocol for the state is to respond within two business days. However, the response time has been following closer to 15 business days or more to investigate these claims. The state is blaming the slow response on high turnover and low pay.

An audit shows that investigations of nursing home abuse in one state are being prolonged beyond regulated timeframes. The average investigation of abuse is taking state investigators 228 days opposed to the required 42 days. The prolonged abuse investigations involve incidents of sexual assault and working under the influence of alcohol or drugs. The investigations are prompted by complaints against nurses in nursing homes.
Nursing Home Pateint Death Tolls Rises To 12
Twelve patients are dead after suffering heat conditions in the aftermath of the hurricane. The death toll had risen to 11 patients and has now grown to 12. The patient was a 57-year-old patient. The nursing home is still under a criminal investigation conducted by police.

A nursing home employee was caught on camera verbally abusing a patient.
