Nursing Home Abuse And Neglect Complaints Increasing

Nursing home complaints have risen by a third in recent years, although nursing home patients residing in their facilities have decreased. Of the one third increase in complaints, one third of those were founded once investigated. They then falsely documented records to cover their actions. Official charged include dependent adult abuse, wanton neglect of a resident of a health care facility and tampering with records.

Nursing Home Death Toll In Hurricane Aftermath Rising

In the aftermath of a hurricane, another death has been added to the toll from one nursing home. The new count has been raised to 11 deaths from the same facility. The deaths follow the issue of no air conditioning at the nursing home and the medical emergencies that resulted. Lawmakers are now joining with nursing home officials to create laws putting rules into effect to prevent such a tragedy from occurring again.

Nursing Home Patient Dies, Loved One File Wrongful Death Lawsuit

The most recent lawsuit addresses a nursing home patient that was allowed to develop pressure ulcers that led to sepsis. The nursing home failed to diagnosis and treat the sepsis. The patient was finally discharged to the hospital after losing 40 pounds suffering from dehydration and malnutrition.
