A family is struggling with the abusive footage of a caregiver with their loved one.  The caregiver threatened to “break every bone” in the patient's body and physically forced her onto the bed after slapping her. Another caregiver was present at the time.

Nursing home complaints have risen by a third in recent years, although nursing home patients residing in their facilities have decreased. Of the one third increase in complaints, one third of those were founded once investigated. The majority of the complaints submitted with a high priority or concern of immediate jeopardy for a patient. Examples of complaints filed include medication errors, or calls for help with a delayed response of three and half hours.

Two nurses have been charged with abuse of nursing home patients. The nurses were accused of denying patients food, necessary medical care and medication. They then falsely documented records to cover their actions. Official charged include dependent adult abuse, wanton neglect of a resident of a health care facility and tampering with records.

Police are investigating a crime committed at a nursing home. The pension of a nursing home patient was stolen from her cash tin box. A man came into the building stole the cash and left the premises.

In the aftermath of a hurricane, another death has been added to the toll from one nursing home. The new count has been raised to 11 deaths from the same facility. The deaths follow the issue of no air conditioning at the nursing home and the medical emergencies that resulted. Lawmakers are now joining with nursing home officials to create laws putting rules into effect to prevent such a tragedy from occurring again.

Another wrongful death, making the count at least 5 lawsuits for one nursing home. The most recent lawsuit addresses a nursing home patient that was allowed to develop pressure ulcers that led to sepsis. The nursing home failed to diagnosis and treat the sepsis. The patient was finally discharged to the hospital after losing 40 pounds suffering from dehydration and malnutrition.
