A local non-profit is raising funds to support nursing home patients in 20 different nursing homes. The organization attempts to meet personal needs such as blankets to keep them warm. The founder observed the needs as a volunteer 11 years ago. “I saw all the need that exists,” the founder said.
Nursing Home Employee Charged With Stealing Fentanyl Patch
A nursing home employee is being held on bond after stealing a Fentanyl patch from a patient. The patient was eating in the dining room when the employee tore the patch from the patient's body and stole it for herself. She was served with a felony charge of prohibited acts and a misdemeanor charge of dependent adult abuse.She was arrested and has a hearing set for next month.
Nurse Charged With Theft Of Painkillers
A nurse has been accused of scamming medicine from a nursing home. She was ordering medicine for patients and then stealing the drugs for herself. The nurse has been charged with theft, tampering with records and two counts of dependent adult abuse. The total count of stolen drugs equals 9,700.
Nursing Home Surveys Reveal Citations and Fines
Nursing home facilities in one state received citations and fines ranging from $10,000 to $50,000. The nursing homes failed to properly prevent falls, treat patients' injuries, prevent stage IV pressure ulcers, among other failures. The nursing home citations were rated as level “A” violations.The state health department released its surveys for the second quarter of the year to publicize its findings.
Nursing Home Facilities Receive High Level Citations, Fines
Four nursing home facilities in one area have received citations for violations at the “A” level. “A” level citations involve a condition in which there is a substantial probability that death or serious mental or physical harm will result, or has resulted. When there is a condition or occurrence at the facility that proximately caused a resident’s death it is considered the worst violation at a rating of “AA”. Nursing Home Lawsuit Filed For Sexual Harassment
A nursing home patient has filed a lawsuit against the facility for sexual harassment. The patient alleges another patient was allowed to continue to sexually harass patients, herself included. The facility was earlier cited for a patient sexually harassing patients and had to provide a plan of correction.The nursing home claims that patient is no longer at the facility.
