Nursing Home Abuse Caught On Tape Through Social Media

A nursing home patient was the target of abuse through social media.  Nursing home employees participated in a video showing the patient being antagonized by caregivers. “One of the employees was kicking his wheelchair and the Snapchat showed him trying to kick back and other employees laughing in the background,” said the patient's son. The family members of the patient were disappointed to see no action taken to apologize or reconcile the situation.

A patient at a nursing home died after just eight days of admission. The patient suffered pressure sores that showed necrotic tissues, revealing muscle and bone. The patient developed sepsis and was taken to the hospital almost a week after being admitted. The administrator of the patient's estated is suing the nursing home, the nursing director and the facilities affiliated companies.

Nursing Home CNA Pleads Guilty To Grand Larceny

A certified nursing assistant working as an agency-assigned employee has been charged with a felony count of fourth-degree grand larceny. The CNA stole a nursing home resident's credit card where she was working and proceeded to charge items to the card along with another co-defendant. The two charged and withdrew cash in the amount of $5,229. The co-defendant pleaded guilty and will serve 5 years probation and 45 days in jail.
