Family Of Nursing Home Patient Files Wrongful Death Lawsuit

A lawsuit has been filed against a nursing home for negligent care of one of its patients. The patient suffered multiple pressure sores leading to her death. An administrator of the estate said, the nursing home “failed to properly and accurately assess her decedent’s condition and failed in supervising the care and treatment to prevent the development and deterioration of multiple pressure sores.”  The patient developed the pressure sores and died within a month.

Nurse Steals Medication From Patient, Destroys Records

A nurse was charged with theft and falsifying records after stealing medication from a patient. The medication was a blend of hydrocodone and acetaminophen. She took the drugs home and self-administered them after they were discontinued for the patient.  In efforts to cover her actions, the nurse destroyed the medication administration record for the patient that would log the amount of medicine administered to the patient.

Nursing Home Theft Leads To Investigation

A nursing home aide was charged with a felony after police were notified of a missing piece of jewelry. A patient at the nursing home where the aide work was missing a wedding ring. Valued at over $1,000, the ring was sold at a pawn shop after the aide stole it.  The charges against the aide included felony counts of grand larceny and criminal possession of stolen property.

Nursing Home Citations Lead To $25,000 Fine

A nursing home has been cited and fined $25,000 for allowing multiple patients to fall multiple times. The facility was cited with a fine at level A. The only level more serious is a level AA which means a death occurred.
