A recent article by the Gazette-Journal for Matthews and Gloucester counties on March 13, 2020, states that hospitals and nursing homes have begun to put in protocols concerning the COVID-19 pandemic. The coronavirus continues to spread in the commonwealth and Gov. Ralph Northam has declared a state of emergency. Riverside Health System announced its limited visitationpolicy at its hospitals, emergency departments, outpatient clinics, and lifelonghealth residential facilities.

Two Illinois nursing homes were  fined by the Illinois Department of Public Health after one resident was injured and another died, according to the department’s quarterly report. Aperion Care Jacksonville, a 113-bed skilled care facility at 1021 N. Church St., was fined $25,000 for failure to provide supervision and implement intervention for a resident to prevent multiple falls, according to the state.
