The son of a nursing home patient has filed a lawsuit for the lack of care provided to his mother while in the nursing home.  The patient was admitted for rheumatoid arthritis issues, but during her stay, her condition deteriorated. Her behavior began to change as she began to ramble and wonder the hallways incoherently.

The family of  a deceased nursing home patient has filed a lawsuit for wrongful death. The suit claims that the nursing home failed to provide the “necessary care and treatment to prevent the development and deterioration of decubitus ulcers.” The patient was allowed to develop a sacral ulcer under the nursing home’s care.  The patient was also at risk for aspiration and the family believes he suffered from aspiration while in the nursing home’s care. A nursing home patient died as a result of neglect of a pressure ulcer that did not receive proper medical attention. The nursing home settled a wrongful death suit filed by the family after allegations arose of improper care. The family believes the settlement admits wrongdoing.

Abuse of the elderly in nursing homes has continued over the past five years, leaving families in quandaries over best steps to mitigate or obliterate abuse of their loved ones. CNAs have been left potentially unsupervised and untrained for these levels of abuse to continue. “That tells me these aides are not being trained or supervised by those that do know how to protect and maintain dignity of elderly people,” said a defense attorney for the family of a patient who suffered abuse.

A nursing home is being sued after an incident involving a patient and an employee took place. A nursing home employee took nude pictures of a patient and shared them on social media. The employee spent days in jail upon sentencing for the charges.  The nursing home is now being held responsible for allowing the incident.

A nursing home owner collecting a paycheck of $34,000 per month and driving a company-leased porsche filed for bankruptcy at one of his nursing home facilities. The co-owner along with his partner, who also drove a porsche leased by the company filed after the facility received a poor facility inspection.  The nursing home lost its Medicare and Medicaid funding and 40 of its 43 patients in the process.
