Nursing Home Cited For Maggots In Patient's Peg Tube

A nursing home cited for deficiencies was recently noted for having an incident with a patient’s peg tube. The peg tube was discovered to have “worm like bugs found crawling all around the PEG tube and surrounding tissue.” The citation determined the peg tubes were not changed often enough and maggots were found crawling around it.  The incident was among 31 other deficiencies identified in a survey of the nursing home.
