Nursing Home Aide Pleads Guilty To Theft Of Patient
A nursing home aide pleaded guilty after being accused of theft of a patient. Initially the nursing aide pleaded not guilty, however, the patient set up a video camera in her room after noticing items were missing. Suspecting an employee, the patient caught the nursing aide stealing money from her purse. A total of $53 was taken when the camera was running, however, other items were missing prior.

A nursing home social worker has been charged with abuse after pushing a patient to the ground and then kicking their legs out of the way to exit the door. The social worker pleaded not guilty, however, did not help the patient off the floor. The patient suffers from a brain injury and seizures, and is a high fall risk.

Nursing Home Employee Steals $170,000 From Patients
A nursing home employee has been convicted of stealing $170,000 from patients over a period of four years. The employee was responsible for managing patient accounts and setting up their shopping needs. To cover the missing funds, the nursing home employee made false entries in her record keeping. She was found guilty of three counts of larceny and one count of making false entries in corporate books.
Nursing Homes Fined For Incidents Involving Lapses In Care, Death Of Patients
Five nursing home have been fined more than $1,000 each for incidents involving lapses in patient care and even two deaths. One patient was allowed to fall when repositioned by only one nurse instead of two, suffering broken bones and ultimately death. Another patient was allowed to sustain 6 days without having a bowel movement, requiring hospitalization.
