A nursing home owner tried to move funds from his nursing home account to avoid paying judgments awarded by a jury for nursing home abuse. The abuse in one case involved a patient offered food that could not be swallowed and he choked to death. The abuse in another case involved a 95 year old woman and was caught on camera.

 A nursing home patient is dead after an altercation at the nursing home. The patient was hit in the head with a dresser draw by another patient suffering from dementia. The injured patient was taken to the hospital with a brain hematoma requiring surgery.

A nursing home worker was arrested for stealing from a patient’s trust fund. The total theft amount was $2,470. The theft was discovered during an unannounced audit of the patient’s trust fund.

A nursing home patient was found dead in a dumpster after wandering from his home at a nearby facility. The man was known to wander and left the nursing home in his wheelchair. He was gone overnight and found in a dumpster, dead.

A nursing home employee is being held on $1 million bond after being arrested for plotting sexual assaults. The nursing home worker plotted with two other men to sexually assault elderly patients at his workplace facility. The plot included recording the assaults as well.

One state has been noticed for its increase in fines for nursing home violations of standard care. Previously, the state was known for being lax on its survey reports in identifying states as violators of care. The state is now showing incrementally growing fines for various nursing home facilities.  Local attorneys are thankful to see that a standard is being held higher for the care of elderly.
